Getting Started with Audicin: A Simple Guide

Welcome to Audicin. We’re so glad you’re here. You’ve made a thoughtful choice for your wellbeing, and this is a positive step toward feeling your best, both now and in the long run
Audicin is beautiful music that works in the background of your day. But unlike standard background tracks, Audicin uses multiple, scientifically-proven sound and engineering techniques to support your nervous system. You now have the best sound for your nervous system at your fingertips.
Listening to Audicin helps your brain and body shift into states that feel calmer, more focused, or ready for sleep. Whatever you need, whenever you need it. All you need is your own headphones.
Ready to explore and find your new Audicin boost ? Here is an easy guide to getting started:

1. How to Start Listening
When you open the Audicin app, you’ll see two main ways to explore on the bottom part of your screen: Songs and Journeys.
Songs are our individual music tracks. They are between 5-10 mins long, with a few notable exceptions such as in our sleep offerings, which are up to 8 hours long.
Each song is composed by a skilled artist who is experienced in the techniques of creating music for wellbeing and who is using the Audicin patent-pending composer guide for the best background music. And each song is individually engineered by our audio experts so you hear it as a 360 degree world. Finally, our binaural beats are invisibly embedded in each track so they work on supporting your brainwave state without bothering you. All you hear is beautiful music.
Start by Choosing a Goal
Most people begin by choosing a goal from the menu above the song list, such as:
- Relax
- Focus
- Sleep
- Work
Each goal is designed to support a specific nervous system state. For example, a Relax song will slow things down for rest, whereas a Focus song will gently increasing alertness for focus.
Functions and Brainwave Bands (Light Science)
You can explore our content in two main ways:
1. Functions (like Relax or Sleep), as just mentioned, are the easiest place to start. These are outcome-based experiences, where the sound design and brainwave patterns are already matched to the nervous system state you’re aiming for.
2. Brainwave bands - Delta, Theta, Alpha, Beta, Gamma. These bands each reflect different patterns of brain activity that naturally occur throughout the day and night:
Delta – Deep sleep and physical restoration
Theta – Light sleep, contemplation, deep relaxation
Alpha – Calm alertness, stress reduction
Beta – Focus, thinking, productivity
Gamma – High-level attention and cognitive processing

In order to support these brainwave states, Audicin uses binaural beats, a well-researched auditory illusion where slightly different frequencies played in each ear encourage the brain to synchronise with a target rhythm, a process known as neural entrainment.
So when picking a song you can keep things simple by choosing a function, or explore brainwave bands if you’re curious and want more control.
What Is a Journey? (And Why It Matters)
Next to Songs along the bottom of the screen is an option to choose Journeys. A Journey is a longer listening experience made up of multiple songs that have been placed together in a targeted order for a specific psychological outcome.
Instead of placing you immediately into a single brainwave state, Journeys follow a carefully designed progression based on neural shift. This mirrors how the brain naturally transitions between states, making the experience feel smoother and more comfortable.
From a neuroscience perspective, this helps:
- Reduce cognitive resistance
- Support gradual nervous system shifts
- Optimise how long you spend in each brainwave state for the best effect
Journeys are ideal for deeper relaxation, better sleep, or when you want a more structured experience. Their names simply reflect what they do for you. My favourites include:
- Crisis Recovery - I listen to this all the time when my son (who has profound autism) struggles with meltdowns. It keeps us both calm.
- I Didn't Sleep Well - The ultimate balm after a rough night caring for my son
- Work with the Flow - Zone in for a super productive hour
- Nature Walk - Our brain's are designed to be comforted by nature, this journey is instant calm and release
- Clear the Brain Fog - Great for when you need to focus on the task at hand, especially under pressure

2. What Should I Listen to First?
If you’re new to Audicin, we recommend starting with the Starter Kit Journey. It’s designed to gently introduce your brain and nervous system to how Audicin works.
Many users, however, prefer to browse based on how they feel in the moment:
- Feeling stressed ? Try Relax
- Having trouble with insomnia ? Explore Sleep
- Need to get in the Zone ? Head to Focus
Explore Songs and Find What Resonates
Songs are great for shorter sessions or for discovering different musical styles and composers. The emotional and sensory response to sound varies from person to person, so finding what you enjoy matters.
When you find a song that you like you can Favorite it, and it will appear in the Favorites tab at the top for easy access. Add as many as you like to the Favorites option - I have around 20 there so I can easily find the songs that work best for me !
You can also favourite Journeys, and Download Journeys for offline listening. This is especially useful when travelling, when wanting to disconnect your phone (e.g. whilst sleeping), or in areas with poor or no WiFi.

3. Connecting Audicin to Your Wearable (The Bio Feedback Loop)
Audicin can integrate with your wearable health data to help you understand how listening affects your body. When you set up the Audicin app, you’ll see an option to connect your health data. If you allow this, Audicin can provide:
• A daily sleep score
• Insights into your daytime and nighttime resting heart rate
Resting heart rate - especially at night - is a strong biological indicator of autonomic nervous system recovery, reflecting how effectively your body shifts away from fight/ flight mode into rest-and-repair mode. By combining listening experiences with real physiological data, Audicin helps close the loop between how you feel and what’s happening in your body.
If you’re unsure how to connect your wearable, step-by-step instructions are available in our FAQs - How can I integrate my wearable with the Audicin app?.
Enjoy !
Audicin works best when it fits naturally into your life. Listen whenever you need support, explore what resonates with you, and let your nervous system do what it’s designed to do - adapt and recover.
As you begin your journey with Audicin, we hope each moment of listening brings you calm, clarity, and comfort. Thank you for choosing to invest in your wellbeing. It’s a meaningful gift to yourself. We wish you many moments of happy listening and continued wellbeing, and we’re honored to be part of your everyday balance and care.
