Read on to learn how and why I listen to Audicin every day. And my favourite Audicin journeys to listen to!

Let me start by being British, and apologising for referring to myself as a 'high performer'. I struggle with this definition, but it has been used lately by others. High performers for me include amazing athletes or people working in pressure roles such as defence, security and healthcare. But it is true that many of us balance far more than the our bodies were designed to take on, on a daily basis.

High performance shows up in our ability to sustain focus, regulate emotion, and make sound, fast decisions across competing demands.

My days require exactly that. I lead scientific work at Audicin alongside the responsibilities of my co-founder role, whilst navigating family life with young children, including my son who lives with complex disabilities.

Over the last 4 years , Audicin has become my invaluable companion, supporting each day with clarity and control . I love that it works quietly in the background. It requires neither my attention nor effort. It supports my nervous system, allowing me to perform in demanding conditions.

I need to be calm and collected in the moment - not be trigger happy when it comes to stressors - and to invest in my long-term wellbeing. Chronic stress does unpleasant things when left unchecked. Our body does an extremely good job of coping ... right up until the moment it can cope no more, and we burn out.

I have burnt out once in the last 4 years and I am driven to learn and grow from the experience. My forest walks, my therapy (Angela, if you read this, thank you from the bottom of my heart) and my daily Audicin are my recovery powerhouses, keeping my nervous system balance in positive, ready for the challenges I face.

Here are the ways I listen to Audicin. To be clear - I don't do them all every day! But you will find me listening in at least one of these ways every day, depending on how life shapes up that day. Somewhere here will be a solution that appeals to you.

Morning = Establishing Cognitive Readiness

Mornings often begin with multiple demands arriving at once. This morning for example, I woke up to my son jumping right on my face - from 0 to 100 in seconds.

Once we get going there is planning, problem solving, emotional regulation, and execution all happening simultaneously. The goal here is readiness, being in the right frame of mind when all this lands.

Audicin plays softly in the background as my day starts. Without active listening, it helps stabilise my nervous system before complexity accumulates. That vital early regulation -  accompanied by my single, much adored coffee of the day - sets the tone for the dayand reduces the cost of my decision-making later in the day.

Morning readiness prepares the nervous system before it is under load. If you can, I recommend to combine with morning light exposure to help set your circadian clock and reset cortisol levels for the day ahead.

Focused Work: Sustaining Precision in Limited Windows

My role as Chief Scientist requires deep concentration, accuracy, and strategic thinking. Like many high performers, I have limited uninterrupted time. Focus for me must happen efficiently and hold under pressure.

Our research shows that Audicin supports faster entry into a focused state and helps maintain it despite interruptions. This boost allows me to protect my finite attentional resources and work with precision even when context switching is unavoidable.

I also find it super useful at the gym when doing 'boring exercise' - a.k.a. anything on a treadmill. The musical inspiration as well as the binaural beat brainwave support helps keep me engaged so time pass more quickly. I also get a lot of good ideas or 'aha' moments with this combination.

Sustained performance depends on maintaining and supporting your nervous system, not just pushing harder until it breaks. When regulated well , engaged focus not only drives outcomes but can also lead to breakthroughs.

Strategic Thinking and Creativity

High performance requires more than execution. It requires the ability to step back, integrate information, and think creatively. Planning, journaling, skill integration, and long-range thinking demand this different, highly prized but tricky to attain mental state. This peak of brainwave activity is one that Audicin's creative journeys can facilitate.

During these moments, Audicin supports a more open and flexible thinking mode, so insights can emerge without mental fatigue. Strategic clarity is built in these quieter moments.

Evening Down-Regulation and Recovery

Evenings require a transition out of sustained alertness. Without intentional down-regulation, performance erodes gradually and often unnoticed. Audicin supports this important active recovery by helping the nervous system shift toward rest while remaining engaged with life. This is not disengagement. It is recalibration.

High performers treat recovery as part of their performance package and I have been inspired by that philosophy this year. Our Audicin Medical Board member Dr. Joel Naukkarinen, a medical doctor as well as a champion rower , once told me that stress is not the enemy, lack of recovery to balance stress is the issue. I like that idea as it puts the control back in my hands. I choose to invest in my recovery whenever I can.

Sleep Preparation Protects Tomorrow’s Performance

Sleep - oh, wonderful sleep. It underpins our resilience, control, and decision-making and is super important for longer term wellbeing. The challenge for me and I am sure many of you is disengaging the mind.

Audicin is part of my sleep preparation routine because it reduces mental rumination and supports a smoother transition into rest. Listening for 10 mins is enough for me whilst I clear up the house or do my skincare. This is not about forcing sleep. It is about creating the conditions that allow it. Because tomorrow’s performance really begins the night before.

High Performance Daily Boost

Audicin integrates into the background of real days rather than ideal ones. We have built solutions for the entire 24 hour clock, so you will find a natural fit for your existing habits whether you are naturally a morning, day or evening listener.

I aim to listen every day of my life with both my immediate needs as a high performer and my longer term wellbeing in mind.

For high performers across sport, defence, leadership, and more, the effortless daily integration of Audicin is what makes enhanced excellence repeatable and sustainable. High performance may often reflect intensity in one domain. But it is ultimately the result of resilience across all of them.
